Now that the cats get supervised playtime (okay, not supervised but they wander when we are home), I find cat fur has re-entered our lives with a vengeance. I remember telling my mother when it was just Boy and us that finding cat hair in our food was a blessing. She obviously felt otherwise.
There's cat fur in my clothes, apple pie (on, not in), the bed, my sofa, all over the floor. I even found golden fur on the living room couch - Sam had been sleeping out there. I have no qualms about my kids touching cat fur but when I start feeling like I have cat fur in my throat, it's time to find a solution.
Before I gave birth, I thought of getting a Robotic vacuum. A robotic vacuum looks like a round trilobite on wheels which vacuums as it traverses your home.
The best one I considered is the Karcher. It is awesome and does not need to be cleaned every time you use it. More like once in a few months, which is the point of automating a vacuum.
Of course it costs S$2500 and FiveCatsDad has totally vetoed it. Guess I'll be eating cat fur as part of my staple now. :p

Aww, the automated vac sounds awesome. Have you tried one of those pet hair removers for at least the furniture yet?
My friend has one of those auto vacs. She says it is awesome. :D I have tried the pet hair removers but they're too slow. Guess ingesting them is the fastest way to remove them. :B
I can relate. I am always covered in cat hair. I went to buy paint one time, and I was standing in line to pay, and the guy behind me said, "How's your cat?" I was like, "How do you know I have a cat?" Then I took a look at cat hair covered sweater and figured it out!
Hi - Just discovered your blogs this morning - first one I've chosen to "follow" too!
Anyways, just had to respond to this - I have had, for years now, a refrigerator magnet that says, "In this kitchen, cat hair is a condiment!" When I got it, I lived with two of the very best, most wonderful, Persian cats who have ever lived.
These days, I live with a lovely little Persian and a Bengal Persian mix - my magnet is not on our refrigerator (for a number of reasons) but it wouldn't apply anyways. These two are like a hair factory! If it were a condiment now, it would be like getting the hamburger with WAY too much ketchup - like basted in, soaking in, enveloped by the ketchup.
I did some cleaning a couple days ago and talked with a friend soon afterwards - I spoke of having just gotten done with peeling the curtains.... "huh? peeling what?" "the curtains." "oh okay right." I then explained how the sheer amounts of fur quickly create a whole new layer of fabric on things, that of course must be peeled off rather frequently.
Yes, be it ketchup or cat hair, sometimes it seems there can be a bit much of a good thing!
Cat Sitter: My clothes have always been full of cat fur, especially when I forget and carry a cat before leaving the house. Of course, friends will know which cat too. :D
Anonymous: Welcome to Five Cats Blog and thanks for following us. Our food has lots of cat fur too. Which is why our visitors prefer to buy back than eat my cooking. ;)
Just found your blog. My mom doesn't have that problem since I am furless. Naked is the way to go.
We have four Persians who are somewhat free with their hair. So much so, they share it with our clothes and furniture. Thus, I can relate to your issues with where cat hair ends up.
While it is a bit annoying, I find I wouldn't have it any other way; our "Boys" are just too dear. Well, of course, I'd prefer to not have cat hair floating around...but.
Re: the Robo...There is a really cute video on YouTube that has what looks like a Siamese cat riding a rumba vac around the house/apartment while a dog watches.
Aw..a cat blog! Sweet! I used to have a beautiful cat. Dunno where he is now. More cat pics pls! LOL
